So much more than the day-to-day

I’ve been teaching math for 4 years at the middle school level. When I tell new people that I work with 8th graders, the response is often one of shock — ‘I could never do what you do’ or ‘Wow you’re so brave’. I can confidently say I wouldn’t change the age group I work with for anything though and I wish more people could see how special young teens are!

Teaching is so much more than the day-to-day that most people think of. My favorite days are the ones where myself and the students get to make a connection doing something fun! Days where their personalities shine through, they can explore or express themselves, and I can share pieces of myself with them to help them become the best future adults they can be.
